任天堂は、「Wii」の新しいファームウェア「バージョン3.1」を10月10日に公開した。アップデートは、インターネットに接続したWiiの本体メニューから実行できる。
今回のアップデートで、「Wii伝言板」での文字入力をUSBキーボードから行うことができるようになった。
（AltとEnterで「OK」が入力できるなどの工夫が施されている）
筆者が所有するキーボード（HappyHackingKeyboard Pro 無刻印）では問題なく動作した。
また、公式にロジクール社の「Classic Keyboard 200」対応が公式発表されている。
